TextArray vs Transform

Updated September 1, 2026

Transform (transform.tools) is a polyglot converter built by an individual developer and published on GitHub. It does one category extremely well: take a document in one format and hand back the equivalent in another — JSON to TypeScript, SVG to JSX or React Native, HTML to Pug, GraphQL to Flow, CSS to JavaScript objects, and dozens more pairs besides.

TextArray covers most of the same pairs and a good many more targets — Go, Rust, Swift, Kotlin, Dart, C#, Java, Zod, Protobuf, Mongoose, Prisma — but the conversions sit inside a general toolbox rather than being the whole of it. If a conversion is all you ever need, Transform is a smaller, more focused page to bookmark.

Where Transform is strong

  • Open source on GitHub, so the conversion logic can be read, forked and self-hosted.
  • A single-purpose interface: a source pane, a target pane and nothing else competing for attention.
  • Front-end conversions TextArray does not do, notably SVG to React Native.

The overlap is real and mostly favours whichever site you already have open. Where they differ is on either side of the conversion: TextArray also formats, minifies, diffs, validates, flattens and escapes the same documents, so a payload that arrives badly formatted and half-escaped can be made presentable and then converted without leaving the site.

Both are built on the principle that this work belongs in the browser. TextArray goes further and asserts it mechanically — a build-time check scans the output and fails the deploy if any page would request anything from a third party — which is a promise about the whole site rather than about one page.

FAQ

Is Transform open source?
Yes — the site links its GitHub repository. TextArray is not open source; its guarantee is a build-time check that no page contacts a third party, not a published repository.
Which has more conversion targets?
TextArray, on the JSON and schema side — it generates types for a dozen languages plus Zod, Protobuf, Prisma and Mongoose. Transform has front-end conversions TextArray lacks, such as SVG to React Native.
Do either of them upload my code?
TextArray does not: every tool runs in your browser and the build enforces it. Transform states no policy that we could verify, so this comparison does not claim one either way.
